FAQS

IS AURA BOTANICA 100% NATURAL?

In the creation of Aura Botanica, the brand decided it would not make any compromise on product efficacy or sensoriality, while pushing for the highest degree of naturality. Today the range is at least 96% natural origin ingredients, with products ranging from 96%-99%. These record – high levels of true naturality without a compromise on product performance and a luxury experience position Aura Botanica far ahead of other "natural" brands.

WHAT ARE THE REMAINING 4%?

The remaining percentage of the formula that are not of natural origin consists of ingredients that are necessary to ensure the stability of the formula, as well as it’s texture and fragrance over time. The fragrance itself is not natural, because natural fragrances can be high in allergens. The fragrance has been designed to be 82% biodegradable, eco-friendly, and sustainably developed – all with out compromising the olfactory quality of the fragrance.

HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN WHY THERE ARE SILICONES AND SULFATES PRESENT IN OTHER KÉRASTASE PRODUCTS? WHAT ARE THEY?

Kérastase products containing sulfates and silicones are formulated in order to be safe and treat the hair in the best possible way. These actives are not "bad" for the hair – their presence, or lack thereof, are direct responses to consumer expectations and desires. Sulfates and silicones have been used for many years for their unique properties to cleanse hair and add slip, shine and suppleness.

ARE SULFATE-FREE FORMULAS REALLY GENTLER ON HAIR? IF SO, WHY?

All our formulas, with and without sulfates, are developed to respect hair integrity, whatever the type of hair. Kérastase formulas that contain sulfates are derived from coconut and palm, however the Aura Botanica range is formulated sulfate-free.

ARE THERE PARABENS IN THE AURA BOTANICA FORMULA?

Parabens are a series of preservatives that are widely used to ensure the protection of products from microbiological contamination. All of the Aura Botanica products are paraben-free. To guarantee the protection of these products, two preservative agents, salicylic acid and sodium benzoate, were carefully selected instead. The formula is balanced with the Samoan Coconut and Moroccan Argan Oils to still maintain the desired level of moisture.

WHY ARE PRESERVATIVES INCLUDED IN SOME KÉRASTASE FORMULATIONS?

We use a very limited number of preservatives selected for certain specific categories of cosmetic products. Preservatives are absolutely indispensable for ensuring the protection of certain categories of cosmetic products (lotions, creams, etc.) since microorganism contamination may occur during manufacturing (water, air, packaging materials) or during repeated use by the consumer. A cosmetic product that is poorly protected and contaminated may induce health risks for the user.

IS THE PACKAGING RECYCLED?

The bottle of Bain Micellaire is the first bottle made of 100% PCR (Post-Consumer Recycled) plastic for Kérastase. The bottle of Concentré Essentiel contains 25% recycled glass and all cartons are made of FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified cardboard.

HOW DOES A VEGETABLE OIL DIFFER FROM AN ESSENTIAL OIL?

A vegetable oil is created with cold pressure of seeds and fruits and by the extraction of their energetic reserve (vitamins, antioxidants). Vegetable Oil nourishes and protects from oxidation. An Essential Oil is obtained by distillation of a plant and of its main components. The Essential Oil contains the most subtle actives of a plant but does not contain any fatty substance despite its name. It needs to be blended with an oily substance, like a vegetable oil, to be used.

HOW DOES AURA BOTANICA COMPARE TO ELIXIR ULTIME?

The fundamental difference between Aura Botanica and Elixir Ultime are the targets. Aura Botanica proposes a solution for women seeking haircare for natural glowing hair with a nude hair touch. Elixir Ultime is able to provide sublime shine with a cosmetic, traditional Kérastase hair touch.

WHAT ARE THE CHARACTERISTICS OF DEVITALIZED HAIR?

When hair is devitalized, the fiber will appear dull, tired, limp, and dry to the touch.

WHAT IS CONCENTRÉ ESSENTIEL?

Concentré Essentiel is the unique aromatic nourishing oil blend. It contains 99% natural origin ingredients, with no silicones and no parabens. The benefits are intense targeted and personalized nutrition of the fiber and the skin (except the face), as well as frizz-control.

WHAT IS ESSENCE D’ECLAT?

Essence d’Eclat is a moisturizing bi-phase oil mist. It is formulated with 99% natural origin ingredients, with no silicones and no parabens. It contains two phases: one oil phase composed exclusively of Jojoba Oil, Avocado Oil, Samoan Coconut Oil, and Moroccan Argan Oil enhanced with natural Sweet Orange Essential Oil for a sparkling sensorial touch and fragrance, coupled with an aqueous phase containing the subtle fragrance of Damask Rose Flower Water
